Part 2, exploring the town of Kalmar in Sweden, making community, and learning about the culture!
A three part installment all about getting to and then finishing an Ironman triathlon. One of my greatest lifetime accomplishments to date and all around and incredible experience for travel, friendship, and achievement
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Please enjoy a story, past and present, to hopefully soften the dinner table in these tumultuous times. Be health, be good, savor whatever happiness you can find this holiday
This. Food. Was. Exceptional. I wrote a review about my dinner at Bâtard, where I was gratefully to join my friends Luke and Steve. Please enjoy the review and the photos!
Thanksgiving is possibly my favorite holiday, and I was blessed to bring it as a gift for a group of Vietnamese and Travelers that I am proud to call friends. Follow my adventure, about 9 months in the past, as I continue chasing Bourdain’s ghost and, hopefully honoring his legacy. Happy Belated Tony!
Sorry I’ve been away long. Many hours spent settling into home, protesting, friends, and mostly code.
Cat Ba is special. I say that about a lot of places, but this one is solid top 3. Mostly for the friends. Here’s one to Alana and Kate, Xuan and Zee-oi. But it’s about rock climbing. No rope, over deep water. In Northern Vietnam. It’s a pretty rad time.
Much love family. See you in the next one.
A random day from the most wonderful place in the planet, Pai, Thailand. I miss that town a lot, and I can’t wait to go back. My friends. I miss you. The adventure. The calm. The food. The people. What a slice of heaven on earth.
Taking a break from the Tony letters, I find myself thinking about how and why I’ve been traveling. What that has meant towards our ultimate goal of detachment of the things outside of ourselves while having the greatest adventures
One of my favorite days abroad so far. A tiny Japanese town opens it’s massive human heart. It’s the most wonderful of days all together.
A Highlight reading from the Fresh Cuts: Year of the Pig Open Mic. I truly hope that you are working on your things, and that you realize the reason I work so hard on Show+Tell is to give my friends space to showcase their arts. It’s been a blessing to see them progress, and I’m grateful I can be a part of their journeys.
10 days in Cusco, hiking the Salcantay Trail to Machu Picchu. One of the most awesome experiences of life. The city is wonderful. The backpacking was rewarding. The ruins were incredible. Some thoughts about the place
Just a privilege and a honor to share a stage I built with talented and beautiful friends; Jared Rosen, Toma, Kayla, Mike Robley, Calvin Smith, Garret Robinson Taylor Bradshaw, Blue Spruce, Alicyn Yaffee, Elijah Sokolow, Peter. I reflect on the night, highs and lows, speculate on some improvements, and have aspirations for the next one! November 17th!
Looking back at how the writing has been going for the last year. Featured reading at VolIII: Year 2
I worked to put my thoughts on paper after hearing about Anthony Bourdain’s suicide. First notification on my phone that morning. Really tough. I tried to explain who a total stranger was to me and why that matters and what next. Featured Reading at Another Open Mic, June 28, 2018
June 28th 2018.
We took 61Local over again for the second open mic. I had some thoughts. I wanted to share. In short, another beautiful time. I’m blessed and proud to hold space for all my friends. VolIII coming in August
A written piece about the humbling, heartbreaking, hopeless moments of the 2018 Syracuse Half Ironman, and how I found joy. Featured reading at Another Open Mic, June 28th 2018
Genuine, gentle, nuanced opinion on the Charlottesville protests, quickly reviewing the obvious [Fuck Trump. Fuck Nazi's. Black Lives Matter.] and expanding on some nuances [They're justifiably angry, there's so much worse, we should be optimistic.] I'm trying to be fair, honest, balanced, truthful. Persuasive if you're so inclined. Enjoy! Take it as a whole! Cheers!
I love this country, and importantly I understand the idea of loving America first. But America First cannot forget what America is. I'll try to reconcile my immense pride in this country with the it's recent un-American actions.
